We also require Teaching Assistants. These are senior grammar school pupils from local schools or undergraduates who seek a fulfilling and rewarding weekend job. Full training is given and there is ample opportunity to progress to the position of supervisor and beyond.

Teacher

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Teacher will be responsible to the Director for the effective delivery of the teaching programme at AE Tuition and maintaining the school ethos and standards.

The main duties will include:

Delivery of the teaching programme

  • Teaching units of mathematics
  • Teaching units of Verbal Reasoning
  • Teaching units of Non-verbal Reasoning
  • Teaching units of English
  • Teaching from weekly class tests
  • Teaching elements of the Summer courses

The teacher is supported in class by a supervisor and a number of teaching assistants. The assistants are responsible for the class administration and individual support work.

Management

  • Attending and involvement in assessment evenings including
  • discussing students potential with parents
  • Attending and meeting parents on Parents Evenings
  • Attending and contributing to staff meetings
  • Liaising with administration staff at the office regarding school administration

 
Teaching Assistant

JOB DESCRIPTION

Assisting individual children with understanding. As experience is gained more assistance can be given, but routine explanations and help are to be given to the children. More specialised teaching points and assistance is to be given by the teacher.

Support children. Some children may have specific difficulties and need more support and encouragement. This child should be monitored and discussed with the teacher/supervisor where necessary.

Under the direction of the supervisor - Check each child has completed all tasks set from the previous week and that they have been marked by parents. (includes Maths exercises, Verbal reasoning exercises, Spelling & Vocabulary work etc)

Fill out a profile sheet for each child if requested by the supervisor. This will record the books the child has completed and their maths & verbal reasoning scores each week.

Distribute Materials. This will include new textbooks and workbooks, pens, pencils etc

Keep a register if requested by the supervisor. Each child’s attendance must be recorded at every session. Any prolonged absences should be noted and brought to the attention of the teacher.

Mark any work that the children have completed if it has not been marked by the parents. Mark other work if parents have not marked it (at the discretion of the teacher). As a general policy we do not mark unless there is sufficient time.

Fulfil any other reasonable requests from senior staff as required.
